Wanted to see if I could get an FPGA working from the breadboard level (as opposed to ordering a development board). A dev board is an easy way to get started – but by breadboarding you are forced to learn all the connections needed to bring it online and program it!


Decided to start with an earlier Spartan 3A chip (XC3S50A-4VQG100C.
Proto-advantage soldered the IC to their carrier.
